- Can I turn the light on when the boat is hauled out?
The lights can be tested when boat is out of the water, but we do not recommend for a long period of time.
- Can underwater lights be left on while boat is running at speed?
Yes
- How easy is installation?
Installation will vary depending on type of light or vessel involved. We recommend contacting you’re local shipyard or marine electronics company. We prefer installations carried out by qualified personnel.
- Should the exterior surfaces of the underwater lights be anti-fouled?
Yes for all lights with one exception the thermal plastic LED light (SV44) does not require antifouling.
- Can the lamp be changed from inside the vessel?
The majority of lights we offer can be changed from inside the vessel, the only exceptions are the LED types. All regular maintenance for the thru hull (HID, Halogen, & Plasma) underwater lights can be carried out from within the hull. The LED range needs to be returned to the factory for service.
- How do I protect the glass from marine growth?
There are clear antifouling products available in today’s market, but our recommendation is using the lights. The heat generated from the lights will help prevent marine growth. For further information, please contact your local dealer or underwater lights office. When cleaning, please use a soft brush.
- Is the backside of all underwater lights watertight?
Yes, all lights have been extensively tested by independent laboratories and our in house testing facility to ensure the back of the lights are watertight when properly installed. However, the thru-hull and weld-in types are not intended to be submersed from inside the boat. The LED surface mount types are all completely submersible which also makes them great for docks, fountains, ponds etc.
- Do the Underwater lights have to be installed below the waterline?
Yes, we recommend the lights to be installed below the waterline for optimum heat dissipation and lighting effect. Please see technical specifications for more information.
- What is the Underwater Lights® USA warranty policy?
Underwater Lights® USA warrants each new underwater light to be free from defects in material under normal operating conditions for two years while all deck lights one year.
Underwater Lights® USA will repair or replace faulty parts at our discretion subject to your delivery of the parts to its factory. Return transportation, if necessary, is to be prepaid by the owner. The warranty starts from the date of sale.
